A setting to hide genre and mood tags by default to avoid spoilers. Moods like "Sad" often spoil a book. For some books even Genre tags are spoilers eg. A dystopian novel that is only revealed as a dystopianear the end of the book.

Could be implemented in the same way Content Warnings are currently blurred.

When exploring books in a bookstore, I usually open a book to read the chapter titles. I would appreciate an implementation where this is available as an additional metadata field.

Manga readers typically search by chapter rather than volume. For example, they might look up which volume contains chapter 1100.

During my experience using this site I found it very tedious to not only discuss, but also upvote suggestions.
Sometimes the site fails to upvote suggestions I click the thumbs up button on.

I often see non-fiction authors quoting books. I propose adding referenced books to book view so readers can quickly add them to their reading list.

I wouId love summaries being a section on Hardcover book pages.

I do see following options being worth a consideration:

• User submitted summaries with the possibility of up- and downvotes on Hardcover

• Integration of AI to summarize books. This could be a paid feature for supporters on Hardcover. I don't think this can be offered for every book, but the major popular books could be worth AI summaries. Especially for the non-fiction area where this can help readers get a more in depth understanding of what the author is saying.

Any site not offering 2FA in 2025 is bonkers.

Add more options, where you could pair the light or dark mode with a third color. Used for things like buttons or headers on account pages, allowing for folks to feel more customized in their book curating.

I'd love to see a book goal WordPress widget showing our progress for current and past year goals for us Book Bloggers. Even if it's just a simple Html coded one.
I did have one for my #Goodreads account which I've since deleted.
I'm quite sure I'm not the only one that would like to see this.

I just add a book today, and I did not have the specific date it was released, only the year. Might be useful to have year, month and day separetely to let us fill one field or all of them, depending what we know.

Lately, the more people on the app, the LESS answers (well, actually less persons answering) in prompts - probably because the more people, the less community sense.
So a reward system might be needed - or else prompts might fail long term.
Idea 1: badges for a certain number of answers. (Might lead to spamming though, so idea 1.1.maybe the prompt asker could/should rate the answer as useful or not.).
Idea 2: answers should show who gave them, providing some immediate symbolic satisfaction for involvement and also opening an avenue for further community links (who answers well my prompts in my fav genres is clearly worth following, maybe even chat to. Super-answerers might become "influencers").

I used to love this on Goodreads - it would give my day a lift. Or a member could have a favorite quote on their profile.

I was searching for a book but forgot the "The" at the beginning, so it didn't find anything and prompted me to add it. It seems like this would be convenient.

Sometimes when I add a book it defaults the edition to an audiobook. I rarely listen to audiobooks so I'd love the ability to set new books to default to ebook editions first rather than whatever's first on the list.
