We already have spoilers for CW tags, but to check if your particular CW is there you risk opening other spoilers. StoryGraph lets you tag CWs that you don't want to read about, and uses that tag to 1. not give you recommendations with those tags and 2. warn you when you click on a book that has one of your particular CWs. I think it'd be useful to roll out a similar feature (even though recommendations are on the back burner right now, just help build the scaffolding for it) but give users the option to click on the warning button and see which of their CWs is listed, so they don't have anything else spoiled for them. For example, someone might just want a heads up for sexual assault, but outright won't read anything with child abuse, so they tag both but want to know which CW a book has instead of not reading the book at all or opening all the other spoiler CWs.

Currently, we can’t see any tags from the book page like we can with moods and genres. We are limited to seeing our own user tags. Adding an option to view the most popular tags, along with an expanded view to see all tags, would be a great addition to the app. Since we already support marking tags as spoilers, the issue of spoilers is already addressed.

Content warnings are currently hard to find. They are hidden under "Genres, Moods & Tags".

Making it easy for users to discover and enter this information will help drive a culture of warning sensitive audiences of things like on page r*ape and sexual assault.

Would love to see content warning forms when you go to review a book.

Currently, I can only search by a single tag or a single mood tag. I want to be able to include/exclude multiple tags and moods and genre and search books in general or books in my TBR matching that.

I want to be able to narrow my search to books that are both genre A and have tag B, and mood C, but exclude tag D and mood E.

Plus a small searchbar to filter tags/moods before placing it which works dynamically and doesn't need to be taken to new page, and also organizing tags into categories would go along with that.

There are a lot of FRs for filters of various sorts. Whether it's by genre, language, edition, or read status, filters on lists should be a basic function. We should be able to filter our own libraries to find our To Be Read pile, or filter Mr Celebrity's recommendations for just the genre fiction we love.

Many interactions require a graphql network request to resolve before showing the result to the user. For example the right click menu on books in search. It would be nice if the request could be preloaded on hover/scroll so there isn't a noticeable delay on the first click

On goodreads, book can have a list of settings - where the story takes place.
It's also possible to click on a location and see books that take place there

The ability to mass add books to a list, or select multiple books from say "read" or "want to read", for sorting purposes for lists, to make lists for establishing readers importing data over easier.

When you finish a book, the update posted to friends' feeds will also show your review if you wrote one. It'd be cool if your review also showed up when you mark a book as DNF.

For series that have multiple reading orders or that have prequel/sequel/same universe series it would be nice to be able to have those linked on a series' page. For example the Chronicles of Narnia has a publication order and a chronological order, there could be a toggle between the two versions or a link to the alternate reading order. Alternatively Holly Black has multiple series within the same universe and some overlapping characters, the modern faerie tales is a trilogy set in the same world as the folk of the air trilogy which has a sequel series, the stolen heir duology.

currently all recommended books are really obviously skewed by having very low reader numbers (like less than 10).
I like how on goodreads you can also see which of your top rated books the recommendation is based off of.

It would be nice to have and option to choose how you want to display your books. Like, toggle in my preferable way and keep it that way. I have to always click in the "shelf" option when seeing my books.

I prefer shelves like that, it could be a third mix between "tables" and "shelfs" options.

I still get a lot of recommendations from friends on Goodreads that won't leave. I would love it if I could select the links to books they recommend from my email, but have it instead auto-redirect to the same book on Hardcover!

Functionality to have a time tracker, for how many minutes you spend reading, and when finishing a session, add the page number/percentage of where you stopped, to track pages read per hour.

• Start, pause, stop session.
• Ability to add manual reading session

Book reading tracking details:

• Track how many reading sessions done for a book.
• Total read time (hh:mm:ss)
• Average stats (average pages read, average read time, average minute per page, average pages per hour)

Track per session:

• date (and time?) of a reading session
• Pages read (in that session)
• Read time (hh:mm:ss)
• Calculate average minutes per page
• Calculate average pages per hour

Additional stats one could add:

• Graph of how many pages read per day in a given period (e.g. 7 days, 30 days)
• Graph of how many minutes read per day in a given period

Why?

I personally like seeing how fast I read, and how long it takes me to read a book. It also helps if you want to have a goal of e.g. read 30 minutes a day, you can set a reading goal, and use this tracker functionality to make sure you reached 30 minutes reading)

Right now you have to go to the book item (example: Dracula) and then you can add it to a list (example: Vampires) through the menu. I would love if we could go to the list (Vampires) and then have a way to quick add book titles that automatically add to the list you are viewing. This would be separate from another feature request which is to bulk edit titles to add to a list.

An additional level of privacy between "followers" and "private" would be useful to users who want to invite family or coworkers to the app, but don't want certain books visible to them, while allowing those books to be visible to others.

Inviting family or coworkers to an app tends to come with expectations that if they follow you, you have to follow them back. This can lead to marking books as private that you would otherwise want shared with a subset of like-minded readers, or it can lead to not inviting people to the app as a privacy measure.

Toasts saying something happen correctly are mostly redundant; and on smaller devices they're really annoying. After I finish reading my book, I set it to read, then set a star. Maybe I change my mind two times, or miss click. And my entire screen is green toasts saying something I just did has happened. The UI has already updated to reflect my changed (Status now says read, the stars are coloured in like I selected).

I personally think it'd be fine to just remove all of them outright (unless the UI does not reflect). As the UI update should show the user their action has completed successfully, that together with the absence of an error toasts should be enough. Possible others might want them, so a setting could help? (That said, settings for everything is pretty bad as well)

I need a way to synchronise my books with my Calibre library.
I really don't want to enter everything manually. o_O
I would also like to have the option of synchronising with KyBook 3.

As far as I can tell the main search bar for lists only searches public lists. I have quite a lot of private lists, and it can take a lot of scrolling and clicking to get to the ones later in the alphabet on my user lists page. The "Tip: You can create new lists from here" message kinda looks like a search bar with the way it's colored but it's not lol. I'd love to be able to just start typing the name of a list and have it come up easily

Just like we can set the default view of a list (card/shelf/table), I'd also like to be able to set a default sort method for each list. For example, I have a Waiting for Publication list that I want to already be sorted by release date each time I open it, instead of having to manually change it each time.

I'd like to be able to see at a glance whether an author has publicly stated that they do not use AI for writing or for the cover art of their books. It could be something librarians could add (possibly with source provided to head librarians for approval) or something that authors can select themselves after becoming verified. It would also be nice to use it as a filter when searching for a new book to read.

Can we add a feature where we can custom add books to our own bookshelves without adding them to the public catalogue? For the purpose of tracking things like unpublished stories or fanfiction.

I know a lot of users of Storygraph and Fable who really enjoy the reading streak features and stick with those platforms due to the investment into seeing a streak continue. It could be a fun feature to keep users engaged

I want to see which books I have not read in a list or genre. Right now these are scattered everywhere regardless of the sort chosen.
