Add audiobook as a selection for book type.
If possible, it would be really great if there were preventative measures in place that ensured that users couldn’t accidentally duplicate an author or an existing book, whether through manual editing or bulk imports. I think it makes sense to require manual confirmation input when an action taken will create new items in Hardcover, just to ensure that users don’t accidentally create significant amounts of additional work for Librarians in the long run.
I feel like lumping manga with graphic novels is doing a disservice to both mediums and should be its own category
its great we have the ability to see other editions of books, but I'd love to pick the cover I personally own or my favorite
Bit of a nitpick, but I wish there was more certainty to finishing a book. I always change the percentage to 100% and then change the status to "Read", but that doesn't feel right.
I wish there was some sort of thing that lets me say "Hey, I'm done" and let me have some certainty that I finished the book.
Goodreads and MAL have this and I think its a pretty essential, if small, feature.
I love being able to select the edition of my choice, but it's frustrating that the image is incorrect in my "Read Books" page. I recently imported my books and am trying to go through and make sure the edition is correct for them but I can't tell at a glance which edition is selected for the book without clicking into it 😭
Whenever you search for books and sort by average rating, all the books with a 5 star average due to a low number of reviews are at the top. This makes it so the actual highest rated books are buried under countless pages of books with only a few 5 star reviews. It would be nice to filter these out to see the actual highest rated books. So for example, a filter that would allow you to only see books with say, 100 reviews or more. Or just make it so any book with less than a certain number of reviews automatically gets filtered out when searching and sorting by average rating.
Ability to filter trending on genere, tags etc.
I'd love to be able to add friends to a private group where we can share book recommendations and reviews, make posts, etc. It'd be useful for bookclubs to use as well.
include more posibilities for other lenguages.
Translations for the app and others languages communities, for example spanish. In the same dirección for edition of books.(obviously English is not My lengague 🤭😬)
Ability to filter one's own library by different criteria, like book format (physical, ebook, etc.—after a few imports my books and stats are all messy, and being able to filter would make it easier to switch editions as well as add missing ones and/or fixing incorrect data). Thank you!
The Owner last read date
sorting option doesn't work with the Currently Reading
tab.
I assume this sorting method looks for the last Finished reading
entry in the Reading Journal
since books I have already finished, and I am re-reading, are the only ones to appear with this sorting option.
This method works fine in the Read
tab, since all books in this tab have already been Finished reading
, but it doesn't work in the Currently Reading
tab, where most (when not all) books have never been Finished
before.
As a result, you have almost all books in the Currently Reading
tab hidden when you set the sorting to Owner last read date
.
I suggest that the Reading Journal's Updated progress
also be accounted for in the sorting, so that "last read date" means "the last time you pick up the book to read" and not "the last time you finished the book".
Since the page prioritises (logically) English, it would be nice to have a field where the original title of the book appears, in case it is in another language, so that it is still represented.
For example, this is already being implemented in letterboxd, https://letterboxd.com/film/anatomy-of-a-fall/
Limiting privacy settings to “followers only” is meaningless if anyone can just follow you to access your reading history or profile information.
There should be an approval step for followers so you can allow or disallow their access to your information if your account isn’t public.
A setting to hide genre and mood tags by default to avoid spoilers. Moods like "Sad" often spoil a book. For some books even Genre tags are spoilers eg. A dystopian novel that is only revealed as a dystopianear the end of the book.
Could be implemented in the same way Content Warnings are currently blurred.
I would like to write an interpretation or comment the quotes I do add via the journal feature.
I would like to sync my annotations together with Glasp.
The users should have the option to turn automatic export / import on.

Support OpenLibrary with the data the community helps build in Hardcover.
I often like to check the table of contents, so I would support the option to upload it separately as an image or enter it manually.
When exploring books in a bookstore, I usually open a book to read the chapter titles. I would appreciate an implementation where this is available as an additional metadata field.
Manga readers typically search by chapter rather than volume. For example, they might look up which volume contains chapter 1100.

Would love to be able to see my currently reading, goals, etc on the home page of my phone, computer or tablet!
Add Thriller/Mysteries to the search by genre field
During my experience using this site I found it very tedious to not only discuss, but also upvote suggestions.
Sometimes the site fails to upvote suggestions I click the thumbs up button on.
I do propose to switch to https://flarum.org which does the job better than Noora.
This would allow bugs to be tracked as well.
I would like the ability to track when I've experienced a book in both formats - audio and text - rather than having to choose between one format or the other
