Track reading of individual works within an omnibus/collection

Allow for the addition/creation of individual work that is part of a single book (ie The Collected Works of so-and-so) and allow tracking of the progress on those individual works. This would be a finer grained accuracy of reading. Ideally the collected works would roll-up to show progress over the entire omnibus.

We already allow the creation and marking of omnibus as collection of smaller books but we don't mark those as read if the omnibus is marked as read, that part of the feature request is something that hasn't been implemented yet.

Govind I assume by "collection" you are referring to the "list" feature, which doesn't really feel like an omnibus single volume. You've already referenced one lacking feature (overall status), and could add things like start/end date, times read, etc.. Anything that would be valid for a single volume. Certainly could be used as a work-around, but, I think, not quite the same. Thanks!

I meant this collections. We already support adding individual work, and then marking that an omnibus is collecting them. The series tracker actually counts the omnibus being read as reading the individual issues. It doesn't work well for collected works of x, y case but works well for ombibuses.

Hi! Just a fellow reader here. I'm curious about this, because I like the idea. Are you familiar with the feature that allows to add a "partial book"? You add a book and you click the toggle for partial and it asks what the "parent" book would be, if I remember correctly. In this case it would be the omnibus. Do you think that would cover it? Or is there something awkward/missing still?

Antü Sorry, I just noticed your reply today. I've looked at the Partial Book feature, which seems like it "partially" solves the problem. :) I've not actually tried it because, if I understand the flow, it sets this status at the book level, not the edition level. So, again if I understand correctly, this would change it across the board, which I imagine is not always the case.
Since I've not tried it, I don't know what it does as far as status/progress for the omnibus ("parent" book) in relation to the partial books within it. It could be this is the solution if it applies at the edition level? Thanks!

Antü Partial editions is not meant for that. It's meant for partial splits of the main book. We already have an another feature called mark as compilation, which allows us to mark a work as a compilation that collects other works.
