I usually update the progress of how far I've read a book before I write in the reading journal, sometimes several times a day. These two things are for me not connected. And, since the last time I wrote in the journal, I may have read a few chapters. Regardless of where I am in the book, the journal want's me to either update the progress again, or simply accept the page I've noted down earlier to just remember my progress. For me this means that this data is always wrong in my journal, and irrelevant to my notes, so I usually don't touch it. What I would love, is to either have a free text field there, the option to ignore it for the entry, or, what I personally would use the most, a chapter select. Maybe after a day of reading I wish to make a few entries, one for each chapter I've read throughout the day, at the end of the day. Then the footnote data would also be useful for me again
