Provide an OpenSearch search engine
Released

Jan 5, 2026
This would allow browsers that also support the protocol to easily add hardcover as a search engine, accessible directly from the search bar or under a flag.
This would simplify browsing and interacting with the site on desktop search engines, or for power users.

This is awesome, Ziv! Thank you so much.
We now an Opensearch definition with Search Suggestions, we also now have instant navigation, if the title matches exactly it will take you directly to the corresponding page.
We have 3 schemas defined for the default book search as well as specific author search and series search.
You can enable it on Firefox by right clicking on the URL bar and clicking Add Hardcover, you can then go into Search Settings (about:settings#search) and give it a shortcut like "@hc".
On Chrome you first have to visit the site, then you can go to Search Engine Settings (chrome://settings/searchEngines) and under Inactive Shortcuts you can enable Hardcover, and give it a shortcut to use in the Omnibox.
OMG I've just logged in to post the same exact thought. Literal hive mind.
