Field for Book Type (Private Tags?)
Under Consideration

I read physical books, owned and from the library, on Kindle, and occasionally iPad for non-Kindle ebooks. I started to tag books with this status until I realized those were public. What I need is a way to note on a book how I read it (how I read it indicates where my notes are). Private tags seemed like an obvious option for this, since no one else needs to know format. But I need to be able to add this prior to leaving a review - private notes don’t seem like the right place. I’d also love to be able to filter or see reports based on book format, so maybe a new custom field is the way to go here? Open to whatever the team comes up with, just adding what I’d like to be able to do.

Hmm, having private and public tags seems like it could be a good solution for this. Combined with being able to filter a group of books (like your read books) by that private tag. Does that sound like it'd solve this for you?
Adam Fortuna yeah the filtering is what would be nice, especially if it could be integrated with your stats (pie charts for books by type read..., library vs. owned etc.). I just noticed after I posted this that there are options when marking a book as read to designate type of book. It would make sense to separate them by read dates, in case you read a book once as an ebook from the library, then as a physical book you own or something. I'm open to whatever makes the most sense.
TLDR; I want to pull a finished book up on Hardcover, then immediately see if it was Kindle vs. physical book.
