As mentioned in our June 2026 newsletter, moderation lists is one of our upcoming features:

Moderation lists steal a concept from BlueSky, and will allow people to create or following existing lists of books, authors and publishers. Books on these lists can be hidden from Hardcover or you can opt to see a warning about which moderation lists they’re on.

We are currently in the research/design phase of figuring out exactly what this will entail, but it will possibly include things like:

• You can mark a book, author, publisher or user with a status of "Mute" or "Warn".
• If you go to the page for one of the above and you've set them to "Warn", you'll see a message at the top of the page. If "Mute", you'll see a modal blocking them, with the ability to "Show anyways".
• You won't see "Muted" content on the site. So if you Mute a book, it won't show up in Trending, Lists, Prompts, etc (it will still show up in your library)
• If you "Warn" a book, it'll still show up, but with a red border around it
