For those who want to contribute to the sites book and metadata library, the knowledge that we cannot download the database and volunteer work could disappear means it feels like theres no point in contributing.

This would also be a way to prevent one of the things that was stated as triggering the creation of this site, the removal of the API from GoodReads further locking people in.
I think this is a nice complement to the code open sourcing on the roadmap
