I'd like to add my support for this suggestion. It would be very nice to be able to engage with the most common edition of a book, the one that has the most readers and reviews, while tracking your own reading progress in a different edition, such as a box set or omnibus. Being able to set a custom page count would allow for this. I think this is pretty important for tying together the community aspect of the site with the personal reading tracker functionality.
