honestly i don't know how doable this is but it might be nice to follow literary awards (like we do with series) and categories you're interested in, also keep track of the books you've read and want to read! see longlist, shortlist and winners and show the awards on a book page!

This! I tend to look over lists from NYT, the Booker Prize, anything that's won a Nobel, and other lists of note. Or just things like must read Classics in your lifetime, things like that from publications we like.
I'm also subscribed (email list) to bookshops like Foyles, various publishers or imprints, and interesting literary things for their views and toplists. It's just a different sentiment. Would be great if Hardcover could somehow aggregate that (custom per user, if they want that) somehow.
