Like others have mentioned, the story here is data interop and resilience, not necessarily integration with one random microblogging app. Joining forces with Bookhive and Popfeed would build the foundation for a commons data layer of book tracking and communities. This would make every participating app stronger, while expanding the userbase and network of all of them. I see this as the only realistic way to eventually overthrow Goodreads while offering a plurality of experiences that cater to different readers.

I would like to see ATproto identity integration at some point.

Would be amazing if you stored all my Hardcover data IN my PDS! (User-owned storage ftw!)

Also, discovery. Which of my Bsky friends are on Hardcover and I can follow them here?

undefined Actually what I meant is a few things:

  1. Social discovery: log into Hardcover or verify by Bsky account and Hardcover checks my Follows to see who else is on Hardcover and suggests following them on Hardcover.

  2. Book shelf syncing: when I OAuth by Bsky, it checks my PDS for books on something like Bookhive or anything that uses that lexicon https://lexicon.garden/lexicon/did:plc:enu2j5xjlqsjaylv3du4myh4/buzz.bookhive.getBook and add to my Hardcover shelves. And in the future, it also hopefully could WRITE to my PDS to keep it updated. User-owned bookshelves.

Chad Kohalyk I would also love to see this! I think you nailed those two primary integrations where atproto fits. 1) looks a lot like what Puzzmo did to connect their accounts with user's atproto accounts (see Bluesky support for Puzzmo and Wrangling atproto + Bluesky for Puzzmo.com). And on 2), as Chad mentioned if Hardcover could work alongside or similarly to Popfeed and Bookhive that would be amazing for data ownership and independence.
