Hello! We have recently added the ability to "follow" authors, book series, etc on Hardcover.

From an author's page you can click the follow button. The feature is a little hidden at the moment, but if you go to your Profile's "Network" tab, you can see your followed authors.

Since this is quite an old feature request now with a fairly broad scope, I will be marking this one off as "done" for now. If you would specifically like to showcase the favourite authors on your profile, or have other suggestions for the following functionality, I would encourage to raise a new feature request 👍

It would also be great if we could add authors based on books that I have currently read or want to read. So that I can quickly create an overview of all my favorite authors!

Love this idea. I'm not concerned with showcasing my favorite authors so much as having a list of them that I can click through and see if they've released any new books of late.

This is a great suggestion.

How would people add those authors to their profile?

I'm thinking adding an extra step in the onboarding would be too much.
But maybe we can insert a section just above "Reviews" where they can set their favorite authors.

To make this happen we'd also have to adapt the search function to include authors I'm guessing, so you can only select authors in our database.
